At Nxt Gen, we are deeply committed to Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion, prompting us to ask: Why are South Asians underrepresented in football and sports overall? The lack of diverse voices in decision-making roles means that those making choices about sports and opportunities often do not understand the unique challenges faced by these communities. True change can only occur when decision-makers have firsthand experience of these situations.
It is crucial that those in positions of power reflect the diversity of the communities they represent. Without representatives from various backgrounds—be it Black, ethnic minorities, LGBTQ+, or those with disabilities—meaningful change and equitable opportunities will remain out of reach. Young people need to see role models who share their experiences and backgrounds in influential roles to inspire and motivate them. Only with diverse decision-makers can we ensure fair representation and create a more inclusive environment for everyone.
